COURSE

Course: "The Five W's of Xylitol"
When:  Friday 2:00-3:30pm (2CEUs) and Saturday 2:00-4:00pm (2CEUs)
Sponsored By: Xlear Inc.
Course focus: Although dental decay is largely preventable, it is still considered to be the most common, chronic infectious disease of children ages 5-17. It is impossible to completely avoid sugar in our diets, so a more realistic approach would be to consider incorporating a natural sweetener substitute, such as xylitol, into our daily lifestyle. The Five W's of xylitol; the Who, What, Where, Why and When will become clear upon completion of this course. In addition, attendees will gain a greater appreciation for the many preventive and therapeutic benefits of xylitol.

Objectives of this course are to help the attendees:

  • Understand the health benefits of xylitol
  • Know the history of xylitol research
  • Comprehend how xylitol interferes with bacterial function
  • List ways xylitol can benefit dental patients
  • Identify products that contain 100% xylitol
  • Be familiar with the phrase "Strive for Five"
